Charles Darwin Foundation shares a big "Gracias!" for Member and Donor Support

When the Charles Darwin Foundation (CDF) announced that it was in a state of crisis and needed to raise $1.5 million, IGTOA's executive director Matt Kareus, contacted the CDF to offer any possible support. IGTOA and the CDF have a long-standing friendship with IGTOA supporting science and research in the Galapagos since 1996.

IGTOA, with the help of an anonymous donor pledged $1 to every dollar donated by members and individuals.  The goal for IGTOA was to raise $75,000 for the CDF. The donations from members and individuals totaled $25,573 and IGTOA along with the anonymous donor contributed $50,000, for a total of $75,573. The money is part of a greater fundraising goal of $1.5 million for the CDF to continue operations in the Galapagos. You can read more about the specific operations costs of the CDF here.

Executive director of the CDF, Swen Lawrence said, "Our joint fundraising campaign is a new high point of our collaboration with IGTOA. It also shows the potential for involving tour operators and their guests in supporting vital work in the Galapagos Islands. The funds provided by IGTOA members and their guests are making a significant difference in achieving our overall fundraising goal.” We couldn't have said it better. So, please check out the Thank you video from the Charles Darwin Foundation for a chance to see the type of difference donations from IGTOA's members and donors make.
