Ashton Palmer Makes the “Dean’s List” of Travel Planners
IGTOA member Expedition Trips is proud to announce that Founder and President Ashton Palmer has been named a Condé Nast Traveler “2013 Top Travel Specialist” for Small-Ship Expeditions. Says Consumer News Director, Wendy Perrin, the trip designers on this list “represent the best blend of destination knowledge, insider connections, consumer advocacy, and value for your dollar that I’ve found in more than two decades of scrutinizing the travel industry for this magazine. […] Getting into this group is, statistically speaking, tougher than getting into Harvard.”
With more than two decades in the expedition travel industry, Palmer has traveled on over 100 small-ship expeditions, including more than 50 trips to Antarctica as a former Expedition Leader and Naturalist Guide, and many more throughout the Arctic, the Amazon, the South Pacific and the Galapagos Islands, to name a few.
Beyond the destinations themselves, Palmer is an expert on the different expedition operators in these regions (having worked for many of them throughout his career), and is well regarded for the ability to help travelers identify exactly which expedition experience (destination, ship, etc.) is best suited for their preferences and tastes. “Like stepping through the cover of a National Geographic Magazine, expedition travel is a unique immersion into some of the most remote and awe-inspiring places on Earth. I am fortunate to spend my professional life helping people plan these trips of a lifetime,” he shares.
