ASOGAL Promotes Socially Responsible Business Practices
The Galapagos National Tour Operators Association (ASOGAL) has been working on promoting socially responsible practices among tourism companies. The goal is that tour operators contribute voluntarily to improve the social and economic dynamics of the local communities.
ASOGAL has also promoted several new interrelated projects this month: the account management support center for residents; a new bakery operated by fishermen’s wives to provide products to tour boats; and a new project with a local women’s group “manos mágicas” (magic hands) to start producing bedding supplies for tour boats.
The concept has risen to a corporate level. The goal is to involve bigger businesses and the public sector into these practices.
