Correa Allies Win Ecuador Constitution Assembly Vote
Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa’s allies won the majority of seats for a constitutional convention. Delegates linked to Correa took at least 71 of 130 seats in the October 1st election for an assembly to rewrite the constitution.
He is expected to call for the closing of Congress and replace it with a parliamentary commission until a legislature is elected under a new charter.
Complete official results were expected to take at least 20 days.
