Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa’s allies won the majority of seats for a constitutional convention. Delegates linked to Correa took at least 71 of 130 seats in the October 1^st election for an assembly to rewrite the constitution.

He is expected to call for the closing of Congress and replace it with a parliamentary commission until a legislature is elected under a new charter.

Complete official results were expected to take at least 20 days.
